What is SmartReview? How is it different from how other systems review invoices?
Our SmartReview® technology provides you with a more consistent invoice review than relying on UTBMS codes alone. While CounselLink also supports UTBMS codes, our intelligent technology means that your law firms aren’t required to use UTBMS coding. Our SmartReview technology reads the entire text of each invoice entry and automatically categorizes, compares, and adjusts each entry against your unique billing requirements.
The natural language categorization available with SmartReview provides a more granular classification of data than is available through UTBMS codes, with the ability to fine-tune your billing guidelines and reporting against hundreds of SmartReview categories. By basing the review on the actual invoice entry instead of a task code, CounselLink catches discrepancies to your billing guidelines and helps you identify greater cost saving opportunities.
 
We already have a matter management system, do I still need CounselLink?
For those companies that have an existing matter management system in place, CounselLink can integrate with your matter management system to help you gain greater insight into your legal spending and leverage your existing technology investments. Our team has extensive experience integrating CounselLink with most of the leading matter management systems and financial systems as well as other key front- and back-office systems to help you streamline your operations and provide a seamless experience for your users.
 
Do I need to install software in order to use CounselLink?
No. The CounselLink solution is web-based and can be accessed from any browser with a secure Internet connection.
 
How many law firms use your system? Are my law firms already using CounselLink?
Over 6,000 law firms, including most of the AmLaw 200 firms, are currently using the CounselLink solution to submit invoices and work more collaboratively with their clients. During the implementation process, we will work with you to determine how many of your firms/vendors are already using the solution.
 
What do our law firms need to do to use the system and submit invoices?
During implementation, our attorney development team will work with you to notify your law firms of the transition and communicate your billing requirements. Our team will contact and assist all of your firms in getting set up and submitting invoices. Law firms can create electronic invoices directly from their current time and billing software and upload them directly into CounselLink. Or, if allowed by the company, firms can submit their invoices in other formats (paper, email) that our team can convert into a standard electronic format for review within the CounselLink system. Law firms can also manually enter their invoices into CounselLink.
 
Is there a fee for Law Firms to use CounselLink?
Law firms signing up to use the CounselLink application as a part of doing business with their existing clients are typically not charged any fees. For firms electing to join the CounselLink Registry, there may be an annual credentialing fee of $275.00 per attorney. Participation in the CounselLink Attorney Registry is entirely optional.
